In conjunction with the Vanhan Kaartin torvisoittokunta concert program on June 6, Dr Paul Niemistö has collected some of the authentic old valved brass instruments used in Finland during the years before Independence. These instruments, along with some photographs and a video monitor, will be displayed in the foyer of the Music Center.
Several brass bands from around Finland have loaned these instruments from their storage closets. Some of them were manufactured in Helsinki, and all are of a design that is no longer made. This exhibit, located near the ticket office, will be on display until after the Sibelius Academy Brass Festival is over.
Come and experience yourself what were the instruments used in Finland in the years before the independence!
