Centre for Artistic Research (CfAR) grants for postdoctoral researchers’ productions & research dissemination

Application period 31.8.2020 – 30.09.2020

The Centre for Artistic Research (CfAR) awards grants to postdoctoral researchers at Uniarts Helsinki for artistic productions that are a part of their research or for dissemination of their work in the field of Artistic Research. In March 2020 CfAR cancelled the spring round of grants giving due to the pandemic, and decided instead to increase the amount of the autumn round of grants giving (this call), with an exceptional condition of backdating the research activity for incurred costs to 01.03.2020.

While the production/event for which the applicant seeks support may take place beyond 2020 (such as an exhibition or performance), costs for which a grant is being sought need to be spent between 01.03.2020 (see above) and 28.02.2021. The application is open to all staff members of Uniarts Helsinki and salaried/visiting postdoctoral researchers; the scheme prioritizes a new generation of postdoctoral researchers and those with a connection to CfAR.

The funding is granted for either (a) the costs incurred as part of an artistic production, or (b) the costs incurred in the dissemination of your work in Artistic Research. These can include, for example, for (a) renting of an event venue, purchase of material, payments for ordering of compositions, remuneration for assistants, travel expenses or documentation costs, or (b) conference/symposium fees, accommodation, or travel costs. The production can have members from outside of Uniarts Helsinki. Given the limited amount (approximately 10.000 euros in this call), we kindly ask you to keep the applied sum on a moderate level. The applicant is responsible for managing all possible taxes and side costs involved (within the sum granted).

A report on the grant must be submitted within two months after the production/event taking place. The grant may be recovered if the report is not submitted. The grant cannot be carried over to a later date.
