Brass @ Sibelius Academy 5.-10.6.2017

Brass @ Sibelius Academy is a new international education and concert event for brass instruments in Helsinki. It was organised for the first time on June 6th-12th 2016.

The next festival will be on June 5th to 10th 2017. 

The teachers and artists for the event include brass teachers from the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and a group of other internationally acclaimed brass instrumentalists. In addition to master classes, the event will also feature a high-level concert series in the Helsinki Music Centre and the Temppeliaukio Church.

The Brass @ Sibelius Academy event is realized with the financial aid from Svenska Kulturfonden. The project aims to strengthen nordic collaboration and exchange of know-how within education of brass instruments.

 

null Paul Niemistö brings out forgotten Finnish brass music from a hundred years ago



Fulbright researcher Paul Niemistö has spent the Spring in Finland, preparing some old Finnish Brass band music for the stage to be heard for the first time in a century during the Brass @ Sibelius Academy festival on June 6th! Together with Raine Ampuja, Niemistö will also be telling about the programme and his project before the concert. He visited the Sibelius Academy wind orchestra conducting class and on the video, he also tells about his impressions on that.
