Views from the Window: Talks by CfAR’s 2018 Short-Term Postdoctoral Researchers

Thursday 31.01.2019, at 16.00-18.00, in the Ackté Hall, at the Sibelius Academy (Uniarts Helsinki), Töölönkatu 28, Helsinki.
The PDA opens its 2019 series with a report by two 2018 Postdoctoral Researchers: Pekka Kantonen and Mari Martin. Both worked on a project on Artistic Research for a duration equivalent to 4 months (full-time) in 2018. They will talk about their projects, their research, their ambitions, and may suggest tips for future Researchers. The event showcases and celebrates a fantastic range of activities in Artistic Research, here and now.
Pekka Kantonen will talk about one of his articles co-authored with Lea Kantonen: Indigenous Knowledge and the Hesitant Act of Translation. The themes are: how a performance can be research, and how to translate indigenous knowledge by using video projections as the medium, and how to share the process of research.
Marin Martin will discuss how she has managed contextual changes in her research process, as a result of her being selected to participate in the Uniarts Helsinki Research Pavillion #3 in the context of the Venice Biennale in summer 2019. She will ponder what it is like to prepare such a large-scale participation and what it means to her research.
The event also functions as an information session for CfAR´s call for applications to the positions of Postdoctoral researchers (deadline 1.2.2019). The positions are part-time (50% of the full-time equivalent employment) and fixed-term from 01/04/2019 to 31/03/2020 (or as agreed). Read the call text in full.
Refreshments will be provided. All welcome!
