What is Sibelius Summer Academy?
Sibelius Summer Academy is a summer study program offered by the Sibelius Academy, University of the Arts Helsinki in Finland, organized for the first time in Summer 2019. Sibelius Summer Academy offers young talents a chance to work and perform together with world-class teachers, artists and other students in an encouraging and inspiring international environment with state-of-the-art facilities. Sibelius Summer Academy is supported by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation and the Wihuri Foundation.
Application deadline for the Theatre of Voices master course has been extended
Good news: We have extended the application deadline for the Theatre of Voices master class to April 10th.
Paul Hillier, Else Torp, Signe Asmussen, Paul Bentley-Angell and Jakob Bloch Jespersen will come and join the Sibelius Summer Academy faculty on 19th to 24th August 2019.
The ensemble is known for its extensive repertoire of contemporary music, often juxtaposed with early music. Its programmes feature many of the most eminent composers of recent times, including Kaija Saariaho, Heiner Goebbels, Berio, Pärt, Reich, Cage, Gudmundsen-Holmgreen and Stockhausen, while among its current favourite ‘early’ composers are Perotin, Dowland and Buxtehude. During the Sibelius Summer Academy course students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform classical a cappella ensemble repertoire, ranging from medieval to contemporary music. The Theatre of Voices course at the Sibelius Summer Academy is open to vocal ensembles and individuals both from within the Sibelius Academy and from outside.
