Note on Transliteration - Clarinet Music from Russia and the Soviet Union 1917-1991
Note on Transliteration
The transliteration of Cyrillic is based on the system used in the New Grove of Music and Musicians (London, 2001). The ending -iy is shortened to y, for example in Yury instead of Yuriy. Soft signs are suppressed for better readability. There are various exceptions concerning the spelling of names. I use here the individual preferences of composers, for example, Katia Tchemberdji instead of Katya (Ekaterina) Chemberdzhi, and the most common current versions of names (Krein instead of Kreyn). In the Bibliography, I use the exact spelling of the cited edition and add the more common version if necessary (e.g. Jelena Firssowa in the German edition, with Elena Firsova added).
