Camerata hall was a natural choice for my third concert. Built in 2011, it is currently the main chamber music hall in Helsinki run by the Sibelius-Academy. Originally designed as a 500 seat shoe box, Camerata Hall was cut closer to a square shape during the building process and now has a raked seating for 240. It has adjustable acoustic curtains behind its figure paneled walls. The acoustics are designed to be easily adaptable to different chamber groups and types of music. Because of the alterations in the design the stage appears rather large for the hall. In the very middle of the parterre the box for the sound mixer table and other electronic equipment takes a disproportionally large space from the hall like a royal box. Also above the middle of the parterre, the light railings hanging down about two meters from the ceiling dominate the space. With the acoustic curtains fully withdrawn the reverberation time is around 1.5 seconds. Despite of the alterations to the original design the hall appeared acoustically very promising for the different ensembles in the concert.
