Sibelius Academy Concert Hall

In order to minimize the acoustic risks, especially in the light of experience gathered in my previous concerts, I decided to play safe. The traditional Concert Hall in the old building of the Sibelius-Academy is a reputably reliable shoebox-shaped hall with 670 seats on three levels. It also has sufficient reverberation and a good sonority. The four newly built chamber music halls in the Helsinki Music Centre substantially ease the reservation scheduling of the old hall. Moreover, because the concert was scheduled before the start of the academic year, the hall was free for several days of rehearsals, enabling us to test the seating orders and positioning on the spacious stage, as well as study the acoustic feedback in the hall.

Over these few days we are obviously the only people in the whole building – we have perfect peace to rehearse.
