Uniarts Helsinki
The University of the Arts Helsinki (Uniarts Helsinki) provides the highest level of education in music, fine arts, theatre and dance in Finland. Uniarts Helsinki is an internationally appealing meeting place for art, education, and research.
Uniarts Helsinki carries out acclaimed research in the arts that has societal impact. The special nature of the research carried out at the university is based on direct and rich interaction between research and art.
With its 2,000 students, Uniarts Helsinki is an international community that values courage, skill, and inclusivity. The university employs both full-time and part-time personnel; their combined work input is the equivalent of approximately 740 full-time employees.
Partner institutions
The Research Pavilion is an ongoing project created and hosted by Uniarts Helsinki. Research Pavilion #3 is created in cooperation with the Louise and Göran Ehrnrooth Foundation and international partner institutions. The main partners are Aalto University, Valand Academy of Arts at the University of Gothenburg, University of Applied Arts Vienna, and Interlab Hongik University Seoul.
Aalto University

The Valand Academy
The Valand Academy at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, is a centre for the development of the independent artist / author/ film-maker/ photographer. The academy is especially interested in the agency of artists, and in artist-led cultures, across the space of contemporary art, cinema, literature, photographic and curatorial practices. The academy is extensively networked internationally with partners all over the world and a history of providing courses in diverse geopolitical sites including collaborative courses in Europe, Russia, Central Asia and South East Asia.
The academy's professors were the first in Sweden to introduce the doctorate through arts practices, and have been working with doctorate education for more than a decade. The Academy hosts a lively research community, including several prestigious nationally funded research projects in the areas of artist-led culture, social practice, queer cinema, contemporary poetry, and photographic archives/ imaging practices in environmental and climate science.

The University of Applied Arts Vienna sees itself as a place for free artistic and academic expression and as a laboratory for artistic visions, which unfold their potentials in the society of the future. The university is home to students, many of whom come from other countries, both within Europe and abroad. The broad spectrum of artistic disciplines, complemented by a large number of scientific subjects, enriches the special atmosphere that prevails at the “Angewandte”. The concept of the university as a place for critical reflection upon one’s personal thought and action, a place where questions are more important than patent solutions – this idea flourishes here. Studies are not limited to the mere conveyance of artistic techniques and skills. Rather, the development of individual artistic creativity and reflection upon one’s work on the basis of theories and concepts are our foremost priorities.

Hongik University
The educational goal of Hongik University, in Seoul, Korea, is to forge the strongest possible link between academia and industry to provide service for the benefit of all humankind. The name "Hongik", translated into English, literally means "service to mankind." In pursuing this goal, we prepare our students for varied careers, and they are first encouraged to foster independent thinking, free from the influence of others. Intellectual independence is thus the university’s first educational objective. The second objective is the development of students' cooperative spirit.
