Fear of failure
Enduring creativity is born when you identify your own identity and believe in it. In order to express yourself musically, you must learn to take risks. Playing it safe will bring control to your playing, but this will manifest itself as physical and psychological tension and will prevent your music from flowing freely. Even a little tension increases the risk of making mistakes.
Everyone fails sometimes. Its worth working with yourself to learn how to genuinely accept the possibility of failure and not waste great amounts of mental energy on repressing this fear. Its also a good idea to define what a successful and unsuccessful performance is in your own mind. You can then think how to use the potential perfectionist in you to promote your progress rather than to stifle yourself.
Samuel Beckett: "Fail, fail again, fail better!"
