The European noise directive

The EU directive on environmental noise was adopted in February 2006. At the same time, the new decree on environmental noise was adopted in Finland, based on the same EU directive. The directive was adopted in order to protect the hearing of people in EU countries and to keep daily noise exposure below 80dB. In accordance with the decree, specific guidelines have been drawn up for music and entertainment professionals, with practical instructions on how to protect hearing.
